Your Role

We are looking for a Medior Equipment Automation Project Engineer to join our growing team in Puurs, Belgium. In this role, you will support the commissioning, qualification, and operational phases of a new clinical supply site, working hands-on with cutting-edge pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and automation systems to ensure robust, compliant, and efficient production. In this role you will play a key role in:

    • Supporting equipment commissioning and qualification activities, developing a deep technical understanding of complex systems including filling lines, isolators, freeze dryers with ALUS, CIP/SIP systems, and formulation suites, ensuring all activities are delivered on time and to the highest technical standards
    • Analysing equipment design across mechanical components, sensors, electrical diagrams, parameters, and PLC programming, performing independent troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and automation-related issues and implementing effective, lasting solutions
    • Proposing and implementing technical improvements to increase process robustness, gaining expertise in PLC systems and software integration, and collaborating closely with equipment suppliers, engineering teams, and maintenance colleagues throughout the project lifecycle
    • Preparing and maintaining technical documentation including test scripts, work orders, and change controls, ensuring all records are accurate, up to date, and compliant with pharmaceutical industry standards
    • Providing operational support during routine production batches, implementing mechanical and programming changes for new formats or components, and leading or contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on performance and process robustness
    • Leading or participating in complex Six Sigma investigations, training engineers and operators on equipment and production systems, and taking an active role in knowledge sharing to build a strong, capable team around you

Your Profile

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electromechanics or a Master's degree in Engineering (Industrial or Civil) in Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics-ICT, or a similar discipline
  • You bring a minimum of 2 years of professional experience, ideally gained in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or food industry environment, with basic knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., WinCC) and PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell)
  • You hold a BA4/BA5 electrical certification (required), and a Six Sigma Green or Yellow Belt certification is considered a strong advantage
  • You have a strong technical affinity and hands-on mindset, with an analytical and methodical approach to problem-solving, a clear sense of ownership, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across engineering, operations, and maintenance teams
  • You are fluent in both Dutch and English (spoken and written), communicate technical issues and solutions clearly and effectively, and are flexible and willing to work shifts if required to meet project timelines
