YOUR ROLE
As a Consultant in Data Governance, you help clients build trust in their data by designing and implementing governance frameworks, operating models, and enabling capabilities. You bring a solid understanding of data management disciplines combined with practical experience delivering governance initiatives.
As a consultant in Data Governance, your role includes:
• Design and implement pragmatic data governance frameworks and operating models, including roles, decision rights, and policies, tailored to client maturity and context
• Support and contribute to data quality initiatives, including issue identification, prioritisation, remediation workflows, and basic monitoring practices
• Define and maintain governance artefacts such as business glossaries, metadata standards, data lineage approaches, semantic definitions, and governance KPIs
• Conduct data governance maturity assessments and contribute to the development of realistic, actionable roadmaps
• Support the establishment of data stewardship and domain ownership, and help embed governance processes into day‑to‑day operations
• Advise on the selection and adoption of governance, metadata, and data quality tools (e.g. Collibra, Informatica), primarily from a functional and business perspective
• Translate governance requirements into clear functional specifications and collaborate with data, platform, and IT teams during implementation
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions with stakeholders across business and IT to drive alignment and adoption
• Contribute to responsible AI and data ethics initiatives, such as defining governance principles, controls, and alignment with regulatory expectations for AI/GenAI systems
• Support internal knowledge development, including coaching junior colleagues, contributing to proposals, and evolving governance methodologies
YOUR PROFILE
Required skills and experience
• A master’s degree in business engineering, applied economics, computer science, data science, information technology, or a related field
• 3 to 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, metadata, or data quality initiatives
• Hands‑on experience with data governance, metadata, or data quality tools (from a business or functional perspective)
• Ability to work comfortably at the intersection of business and technology
• Fluency in English and Dutch (French is a strong plus)
Preferred skills and experience
• Good understanding of data architecture principles, data modelling, and the end‑to‑end data lifecycle
• Practical familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA), with the ability to apply them pragmatically rather than theoretically
• Experience contributing to governance initiatives in large, complex, or regulated environments
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain governance concepts to both business and technical audiences
• A proactive and ownership‑driven mindset, with curiosity to explore topics related to data governance, Data & AI, and emerging regulations
