ATEX Expert Engineer (HSE) | Life Science

Your Role

We are looking for an ATEX Expert to join our Technical Safety (HSE) Department on a remediation project based in Braine l'Alleud. Working at the intersection of safety and engineering, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance and best practices in explosive atmospheres environments. This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful industrial projects while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

In this role you will play a key role in:

• Leading ATEX assessments across industrial sites, identifying hazardous zones and ensuring full compliance with ATEX directives (2014/34/EU and 1999/92/EC) within the scope of the remediation project at Braine l'Alleud.
• Collaborating with the Engineering Department to integrate technical safety requirements into project designs, ensuring that ATEX classifications and protective measures are properly embedded from the earliest stages.
• Developing and reviewing technical safety documentation, including explosion protection documents (EPDs), risk assessments, and HSE reports in line with applicable regulations and standards.
• Conducting site inspections and audits to evaluate existing ATEX installations, identify non-conformities, and propose corrective and remediation actions to stakeholders.
• Supporting and advising project teams and clients on ATEX-related matters, acting as the go-to technical safety reference throughout the lifecycle of the remediation project.

Your Profile

• You hold a degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related technical field, and bring at least 3 years of experience in ATEX or technical safety roles within industrial environments.
• You have solid knowledge of ATEX directives, IECEx standards, and zone classification methodologies, with hands-on experience conducting explosion risk assessments and developing EPDs.
• You are comfortable working in an HSE/Engineering interface, able to translate complex safety requirements into practical engineering solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You are proficient in French and/or Dutch, with a good working level of English, enabling smooth collaboration within a multilingual environment in the Brussels region.
• You demonstrate a proactive and rigorous approach to safety, with strong attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously on site, and a genuine commitment to protecting people and the environment.
