Plastic Design Engineer Product Development Specialist
Location: Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Experience: 4–8 years

Your Role

As a Plastic Design Engineer – Product Development Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and developing plastic components and enclosures from concept to production. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, quality, and performance, applying best practices in mechanical design and plastic engineering.


In this role, you will:

  • Design plastic components and enclosures using CAD tools, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
  • Drive product development from concept design to detailed engineering, prototype build, validation, and tooling (soft and hard).
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to optimize designs for manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Select appropriate plastic materials based on mechanical, thermal, and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with tooling, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure smooth product realization.
  • Conduct design reviews, tolerance stack-up analysis, and implement GD&T standards.
  • Support prototype development and testing, analyze results, and refine designs accordingly.
  • Work closely with suppliers and tooling vendors to ensure tooling feasibility and quality.
  • Maintain documentation and design records in accordance with engineering standards.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in plastic product design, material selection, and mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (preferably Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with DFM/DFA, GD&T, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with prototype development and validation.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering documentation.
  • Exposure to industrial electronics, devices, or consumer electronics is a plus.
