Long Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embedded Automotive Functional Safety Expert/Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded systems, automotive communication protocols, and modern software development practices. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software solutions for automotive network systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
Grade Specific Responsibilities
Software Architecture Design
Develop and document software architecture for safety critical systems in compliance with ISO 26262 and other relevant standards
Define software safety requirements and allocate them to architectural components
Design fault tolerant systems with redundancy diagnostics and safe states
Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure alignment of software and hardware architectures
Functional Safety Compliance
Conduct safety analysis such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis FTA
Create and review work products required for safety compliance including Safety Cases and Software Safety Plans
Ensure traceability between safety requirements architecture and implementation
Development and Verification Support
Guide software development teams in implementing safety critical components
Support testing and validation activities including unit tests integration tests and fault injection tests
Conduct reviews and audits of safety critical software artifacts
Process and Tools
Define and optimize development processes to meet safety critical standards
Select and implement appropriate tools for safety analysis architecture modeling and compliance tracking
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with system engineers hardware designers and project managers to ensure cohesive system design
Provide technical guidance and training on functional safety and software architecture principles
Communicate technical solutions and safety concepts to stakeholders
Required Skills and Competencies
Core Technical Skills
Strong expertise in software architecture design for embedded systems
Proficiency in C C++ or other programming languages used in automotive systems
Experience with safety critical software development processes and tools such as AUTOSAR MATLAB Simulink Enterprise Architect
Knowledge of hardware software interfaces microcontrollers and real time operating systems RTOS
Functional Safety Knowledge
In depth understanding of ISO 26262 ASPICE and related standards
Familiarity with safety mechanisms such as watchdogs error correction codes and memory protection
Soft Skills and Competencies

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field
Six or more years of experience in automotive software development with at least two years focused on functional safety
Certification in ISO 26262 or related areas is a plus
