Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Qt Application Developer to join our development team. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize Qt/QML-based applications for embedded Linux environments. You will work closely with system engineers, UX designers, and platform teams to deliver high-performance, reliable, and user-friendly embedded software solutions.


Key Mission

Your mission is to design, develop, and optimize Qt/QML applications targeting embedded Linux platforms. You will ensure that the applications deliver:

  • High performance and low resource consumption
  • Robustness and maintainability
  • Responsive and intuitive user interfaces
  • Seamless integration with embedded system architectures throughout the product lifecycle

Responsibilities

  • Develop Qt/QML applications for embedded Linux systems
  • Implement complex UI interactions using Qt Quick and Qt framework components
  • Optimize rendering, memory usage, and startup performance
  • Collaborate with system and platform teams to ensure seamless integration with embedded architecture
  • Work with Yocto Project to build, deploy, and debug applications on embedded Linux targets
  • Integrate SQL databases and optimize data handling
  • Use Git for version control and maintain clean, well-documented code
  • Conduct debugging, profiling, and performance tuning using industry‑standard tools
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development workflows and toolchains

Profile & Required Skills

Core Development Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Qt/QML and C++, with experience across multiple projects
  • Deep understanding of Qt architecture, including signals/slots, Model-View patterns, and Qt Quick
  • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux application development
  • Practical experience with the Yocto Project for building embedded Linux distributions
  • SQL database design, integration, and optimization
  • Strong experience with Git version control

Performance & Debugging Tools

You have hands-on experience with:

  • Valgrind for memory profiling
  • Memcheck for memory leak detection
  • QML Profiler for UI performance optimization
  • GDB for low-level debugging

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Python scripting for automation and internal tooling
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Yocto containers)
  • Unit testing frameworks such as Qt Test or Google Test
  • Familiarity with cross‑compilation toolchains
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux build systems and deployment workflows
Works in the area of Software Engineering, which encompasses the development, maintenance and optimization of software solutions/applications. 1. Applies scientific methods to analyse and solve software engineering problems. 2. He/she is responsible for the development and application of software engineering practice and knowledge, in research, design, development and maintenance. 3. His/her work requires the exercise of original thought and judgement and the ability to supervise the technical and administrative work of other software engineers. 4. The software engineer builds skills and expertise of his/her software engineering discipline to reach standard software engineer skills expectations for the applicable role, as defined in Professional Communities. 5. The software engineer collaborates and acts as team player with other software engineers and stakeholders.
