Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end to end migration of data platforms from Azure Databricks to Databricks on GCP
  • Assess existing Azure data architecture involving ADF, Databricks, Synapse, AAS, ADLS, and related services
  • Design target state architecture on GCP using Databricks, GCS, BigQuery (where applicable) and other native GCP services
  • Define migration patterns for:
    • Spark based Data Engineering workloads
    • Delta Lake tables
    • Job orchestration and scheduling
    • Security, identity, and data access controls
  • Optimize Databricks workloads for cost, performance, and scalability on GCP
  • Collaborate with BI teams (e.g., Power BI) to ensure reporting continuity during and after migration
  • Provide technical leadership to data engineers and reviewers during implementation

Required Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years in data engineering and analytics architecture
  • Strong hands on expertise with Databricks (Azure and/or GCP)
  • Proven experience migrating Spark/Databricks workloads across cloud platforms
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Delta Lake internals
    • Cluster sizing and tuning
    • Job orchestration and monitoring
  • Experience with Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse, AAS
  • Strong SQL, PySpark, and data modeling skills
  • Exposure to Unity Catalog, data governance, and fine grained access control
