Payroll Specialist (Workday)

Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
  • End to end payroll processing using Workday and ADP.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
  • Audits payroll using reporting from Workday.
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Enter and maintain wage garnishments using ADP.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations to discuss payroll topics.
  • Assists with distribution of materials related to payroll changes.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll and applicable laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
  • Experience processing payroll using Workday and ADP.
  • Knowledge of US federal and state tax laws.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting/Human Resources or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in payroll preferred.
