Job Description - Grade Specific
WLAN Testing Engineer
Location :- Bangalore
Experience :- 4 - 9 Years
Choosing our organization means joining a place where your expertise in next‑generation wireless technologies will shape high‑quality connectivity experiences. You’ll collaborate with engineering and product teams to validate cutting‑edge Wi‑Fi features and ensure world‑class performance across devices, applications, and environments.
Your Role
As a WLAN Testing Engineer, you will design and execute comprehensive test strategies that validate Wi‑Fi functionality, performance, interoperability, and standards compliance across multiple generations of IEEE 802.11 technologies. You will work with cross‑functional teams to uncover issues, analyze RF behavior, drive automation, and contribute to high‑quality product releases.
In this role, you will:
- Develop detailed WLAN test plans, test cases, and overall test strategies for new features, regression validation, and certification readiness.
- Execute functional, performance, stress, and interoperability testing across Wi‑Fi standards including 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, covering 2.4/5/6 GHz bands, MU‑MIMO, OFDMA, DFS/channel switching, roaming (802.11r/k/v), and security (WPA2/WPA3).
- Measure and analyze throughput (TCP/UDP), latency, jitter, packet loss, roaming time, and connection stability under varied RF conditions and diverse client ecosystems (Android, iOS, Windows, Linux).
- Build, enhance, and maintain test automation frameworks using Python/Robot Framework; integrate automation into CI pipelines for scalable, repeatable testing.
- Use industry‑grade tools such as IxChariot / IxVeriWave, Spirent, OctoScope/LitePoint, Wireshark, spectrum analyzers, attenuators, and programmable RF chambers to maximize test coverage and accuracy.
- Capture and debug issues using sniffer traces, RF metrics, and system logs; reproduce defects, collaborate with developers on fixes, and manage issue tracking via Jira/Confluence.
- Support Wi‑Fi Alliance (WFA) feature validation and assist with regulatory readiness activities (e.g., FCC/CE) in coordination with compliance teams.
- Produce clear and data‑driven test reports, KPI dashboards, and release sign‑off recommendations.
Your Profile
- Strong experience in WLAN testing, RF behavior analysis, and IEEE 802.11 standards.
- Hands-on expertise with Wi‑Fi test tools, sniffers, automation frameworks, and RF environments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and experience with CI/CD test workflows.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols, Wi‑Fi security, roaming mechanisms, and performance metrics.
- Excellent debugging skills with ability to drive root‑cause analysis collaboratively.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
What You’ll Love About Working Here
- Work on cutting-edge Wi‑Fi technologies including Wi‑Fi 6/6E/7 (802.11ax/be).
- Collaborative culture that encourages experimentation, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Opportunities to upskill in RF engineering, automation, and advanced wireless standards.
- Flexible work models and supportive work‑life balance.
