Job Description

Mainframe Storage IMS/DB2 Applications DBA

  • Maintain, manage and define standards within disk and tape storage environments  
  • Proactively monitor Disk/Take Storage and take action to prevent potential issues and to maximise performance.
  • Maintain robustness of the configuration and to maintain and test the mainframe DR solution.
  • Assist users with the analysis of storage related issues.
  • Allocate and re-organize Datasets as required - dataset creation, deletion, recovery
  • Generate reports on storage group utilization and storage growth
  • To thoroughly document the environment and all activities performed.
  • Storage administration such as initializing disks, re-organizing files.
  • Volume initialization
  • Storage group monitoring
  • Updating SMS definitions
  • System dataset changes
  • Offer wide support for Db2 and/or IMS (Transaction and Database) products, along with Level 3/4 assistance for software delivery teams.
  • Implement parts or the entirety of the technical solution based on an agreed upon technical design.
  • Provide technical support and insights on the application of technology to a specific business segment.
  • Proficient in using Db2 and/or IMS commands to start and stop Db2 and/or IMS, and manage Db2 and/or IMS connections with other subsystems (including CICS, Db2, and other IMS systems).
  • Possess working knowledge of Db2 and/or IMS system internals and configuration.
  • Experienced in interacting with vendors, including searching their knowledge databases. Familiar with and experienced in using IBMLINK.
