About The Role

  • We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Developer with expertise in migrating Sybase ASE databases to Microsoft SQL Server.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in database development, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in migration projects and over 8 years of overall experience in database-related roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning and execution of Sybase ASE to SQL Server migration projects.
  • Analyze existing Sybase database schemas, stored procedures, views, and triggers for compatibility.
  • Convert and optimize database objects for SQL Server, ensuring performance and functionality.
  • Develop and execute scripts for schema conversion and data migration.
  • Perform data validation and integrity checks post-migration.
  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure seamless integration and minimal downtime.
  • Document migration processes, conversion logic, and technical decisions.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in database development and administration.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Sybase ASE to SQL Server migration.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and Transact-SQL programming.
  • Experience with SQL Server tools such as SSMS, SSIS, and BCP.
  • Strong understanding of database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Familiarity with temporary tables, dynamic SQL, and referential integrity constraints.
  • Ability to analyze and refactor Sybase-specific SQL code for SQL Server compatibility.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
