About The Job You're Considering

The Automation Specialist – Monitoring & Automation is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting monitoring, reporting, and operational automation capabilities across hybrid enterprise environments. This role focuses on improving service stability, visibility, and operational efficiency through the administration and enhancement of tools such as Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH)SCCM/MECMAutoSysAnsibleAzure Monitor, and Azure Log Analytics / Azure logging.

The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, application, operations, and service management teams to define monitoring standards, automate operational workflows, improve reporting and dashboards, integrate alerting and logging into enterprise processes, and support the lifecycle management of monitoring and automation platforms. This role requires a strong blend of technical depth, operational discipline, and the ability to translate service health and telemetry into actionable insight for support teams and stakeholders.

Your Role

Monitoring & Observability

  • Design, implement, administer, and continuously improve enterprise monitoring solutions across on-premises and Azure-based environments.
  • Configure and maintain SCOM management groups, agents, management packs, rules, monitors, alerts, dashboards, subscriptions, maintenance windows, and reporting.
  • Support integration of monitoring platforms with enterprise ITSM and event management processes to enable effective alert routing, auto-ticketing, escalation, and operational response.
  • Define monitoring standards, thresholds, health models, and alerting logic for infrastructure and platform services in collaboration with service tower teams.
  • Develop dashboards and operational reporting that provide meaningful visibility into system health, availability, performance, capacity, incident trends, and service quality.
  • Support Azure-native observability capabilities using Azure MonitorLog Analytics, and Azure platform logging services.
  • Analyze metrics, logs, events, and trends to identify recurring issues, service degradation, or opportunities for proactive improvement.

Automation & Orchestration

  • Design and develop automation solutions to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and accelerate operational response.
  • Build and maintain automation workflows using AnsiblePowerShellSCORCH/System Center Orchestrator, and related scripting/orchestration tools.
  • Automate monitoring platform administration tasks, object lifecycle management, maintenance scheduling, alert handling, dashboard updates, and reporting workflows.
  • Create and maintain reusable automation assets, scripts, playbooks, runbooks, and templates in alignment with DevOps and infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Support integration of operational tooling through APIs, webhooks, and automation pipelines where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement auto-remediation, standard changes, and automated service support patterns.

AutoSys Administration & Batch Operations Support

  • Administer and maintain AutoSys job scheduling environments, including job definitions, calendars, schedules, agents, and execution monitoring.
  • Monitor batch job processing, investigate failures, coordinate recovery actions, and support operational continuity for scheduled workloads.
  • Implement and maintain documented procedures for job restarts, cancellations, schedule changes, and controlled production support.
  • Assist with AutoSys platform support activities including configuration updates, patching coordination, troubleshooting, testing, change execution, and reporting.
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, and service management teams to improve resiliency and governance of batch scheduling services.

Key Responsibilities

Endpoint / System Management Support

  • Support SCCM/MECM administration for software deployment, patching, system updates, configuration management, and compliance reporting as part of the broader monitoring and automation ecosystem.
  • Assist in the collection and reporting of endpoint health, software deployment outcomes, patch posture, and operational compliance measures.
  • Work with platform owners to align endpoint telemetry, automation, and reporting with enterprise support and security requirements.

Reporting, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Produce operational and executive reporting for service performance, trends, outages, capacity, and automation effectiveness.
  • Develop KPI, SLA, SLI, and SLO-aligned dashboards and reports to support governance and service reviews.
  • Maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, operating procedures, build guides, support runbooks, and knowledge articles.
  • Identify opportunities for standardization, optimization, and automation using Capgemini continuous improvement and operational excellence practices.
  • Participate in problem management, root cause analysis, and improvement initiatives to reduce incidents and improve service reliability.
  • Support audit, compliance, and controlled operations by ensuring traceability, documentation, and standardized execution of changes and operational tasks.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure operations, monitoring, systems administration, or automation engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SCOM administration, monitoring design, and alert/event management.
  • Experience with Azure MonitorAzure Log Analytics, and Azure platform logging/monitoring concepts.
  • Experience with AutoSys administration and/or enterprise batch scheduling support.
  • Experience with Ansible for operational automation, orchestration, and configuration management.
  • Experience with SCORCH / System Center Orchestrator or a comparable orchestration platform.
  • Experience with SCCM/MECM administration, patching, software deployment, and reporting.
  • Strong scripting experience with PowerShell; additional experience with Python, Bash, or similar is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server administration and hybrid infrastructure operations.
  • Familiarity with ITSM processes such as incident, problem, change, event, and request management.
  • Experience building dashboards, service reporting, and operational metrics for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, configuration-as-code, and operational automation best practices.
  • Exposure to compliance, security, and audit-focused operational controls.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure, System Center, ITIL, or automation-related credentials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: $70,176- $170,040.

Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction.

It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
