Job Title:  AppMap Technical Enablement Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC

Job Summary

  • Drive adoption and enablement of AppMap's code visualization and debugging tools for software teams.
  • Integrate AppMap with GitHub Copilot LLM to promote AI-assisted code analysis and development best practices.
  • Support developer onboarding for complex and legacy applications, including Java, .NET, and COBOL.
  • Accelerate debugging cycles and improve code performance, documentation, and code review processes.
  • Support in centralizing AppMap configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and usage reporting.
  • Support feasibility assessments for integrating AppMap with CI systems, enterprise observability tools (e.g., AppDynamics, Splunk), and external data sources (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver enablement sessions on installing and using AppMap editor extensions (VSCode, JetBrains) with GitHub Copilot for code debugging, planning, documentation, and performance optimization.
  • Guide onboarding to AppMap for complex and legacy applications (Java, .NET, COBOL), leveraging runtime data for code analysis.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized management dashboard for AppMap configuration, usage monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute in feasibility assessments for integrating AppMap with:
    • CI systems for automated runtime validation
    • Enterprise languages/frameworks (e.g., extend AppMap for .NET, assess support for COBOL)
    • Enterprise observability platforms (AppDynamics, Splunk) and external data sources (JIRA, ServiceNow)
  • Support code review cycles, refactoring, and documentation through code visualization and AI-powered insights.
  • Provide team-specific onboarding, troubleshooting, and introductory sessions as needed.

Required Skills

  • 6+ years' experience in software engineering and as a developer
  • Proficiency with modern IDEs (VSCode, JetBrains) and development tool/plugin configuration
  • Experience onboarding teams to developer productivity or code analysis tools (AppMap, Copilot, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Java, .NET, COBOL, and CI/CD concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
