Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure as Code
•Write and maintain Terraform code for networking modules and landing-zone root configurations.
•Work within established module file structure: main.tf, variables.tf, outputs.tf, locals.tf, data-sources.tf, versions.tf.
•Implement stable for_each patterns using composite keys from configuration inputs.
•Consume YAML or JSON configuration files as Terraform data model inputs for factory-driven deployments.
•Add and maintain variable validation blocks, input documentation, and module READMEs.
•Contribute to and maintain Terraform tests using *.tftest.hcl with command = plan for unit coverage.
Network Operations
•Execute planned network changes following change control and rollout criteria.
•Validate changes with connectivity tests, route table inspection, and DNS resolution checks before promotion.
•Monitor VPC Flow Logs, firewall logs, Cloud Router, and DNS query logs for anomalies.
•Respond to network-related incidents: diagnose root cause, identify affected resources, and restore service safely.
•Support hybrid connectivity health checks for Cloud VPN and Interconnect attachments.
Collaboration and Delivery
•Work with the Network DevOps Architect to implement new network patterns and migrate existing configurations.
•Coordinate with platform, security, and application teams to safely extend Shared VPC boundaries and DNS zones.
•Contribute structured config changes through pull requests with adequate plan output and test evidence.
•Flag design concerns, edge cases, and technical debt to the architect rather than resolving them independently with undocumented workarounds.
•Participate in peer code review for Terraform changes affecting network resources.
Required Experience
•Hands-on experience deploying and operating GCP networking resources — VPCs, subnets, routes, Cloud Router, Cloud NAT, VPN, and firewall rules.
•Working knowledge of Shared VPC — understanding of host project, service project, and subnet sharing boundaries.
•Practical experience writing and maintaining Terraform — able to write clean HCL, debug plan output, manage state, and trace resource dependencies.
•Familiarity with for_each resource patterns, local value computation, and Terraform module structure.
•Understanding of Cloud DNS private zones, forwarding zones, and zone peering.
•Ability to read route tables, firewall logs, and connectivity test output to identify network path failures.
•Experience working with CI/CD pipelines — running validate, plan, and test stages as part of change delivery.
•Comfort with command-line tools: gcloud, terraform, git.
Preferred Experience
•Experience working in a landing zone or platform engineering environment.
•Familiarity with Network Connectivity Center hub-and-spoke topology and route import/export controls.
•Experience with hierarchical firewall policies at the organization or folder level.
•Experience with Private Google Access and Private Service Connect endpoint configuration.
•Experience consuming config-driven IaC patterns with YAML or JSON inputs shaped into for_each structures.
•Experience with Terraform native tests (*.tftest.hcl).
•Experience with OPA/Conftest policy checks on Terraform plan output.
•Familiarity with GCP observability tooling: Cloud Logging, VPC Flow Logs, Network Topology, Connectivity Tests.
•Exposure to Cloud NGFW or advanced firewall inspection patterns.
