Your Role

As a Scala Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance distributed systems that power critical business applications. You will leverage Scala, Play Framework, and Akka/Pekko to build reactive, scalable, and resilient services while contributing to modern microservices architectures. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex backend solutions, optimize system performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities & Scope

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Scala and Play Framework
• Build reactive and distributed systems utilizing Akka/Pekko principles and frameworks
• Develop and support RESTful APIs to enable seamless integration across enterprise platforms
• Design and implement scalable microservices architectures following industry best practices
• Optimize application performance and database operations across MySQL and Oracle environments
• Develop resilient, secure, and highly available backend solutions for mission-critical applications
• Create and execute unit and integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices
• Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve software defects and production issues in a timely manner
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and development teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, automated deployments, and cloud-native development practices
• Support distributed architectures deployed in containerized and cloud environments, including EKS

Your Profile

• 5+ years of backend development experience, including at least 3 years working with Scala
• Strong hands-on expertise with Scala, Play Framework, and Akka/Pekko
• Solid experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and Oracle database design, development, and performance optimization
• Experience building microservices-based applications and scalable backend architectures
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices
• Exposure to Kubernetes, containerization technologies, and Amazon EKS environments
• Experience with GoLang is a plus
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
