Your Role

As a Data Governance & Privacy Engineer (BigID) at Capgemini, you will play a critical role in helping organizations strengthen their data governance, privacy, and security posture through the implementation and management of enterprise data discovery and protection solutions.

You will be responsible for administering and optimizing BigID environments, supporting regulatory compliance initiatives, identifying sensitive and high-risk data, and developing data governance frameworks that enable secure and compliant use of enterprise information assets.

Working closely with Data Governance, Security, Compliance, Infrastructure, and Business teams, you will help establish best practices for data privacy, retention, classification, and risk management across complex enterprise environments.

 

Responsibilities & Scope

  • Support enterprise Data Governance, Privacy, and Data Security initiatives.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain BigID environments across enterprise platforms.
  • Manage and optimize BigID components including:
    • Scans
    • Collectors
    • Connectors
    • Agents
    • Integrations
  • Configure and execute data discovery scans across structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Develop and maintain custom classifiers for identifying sensitive data, including:
    • Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
    • Protected Health Information (PHI)
    • Payment Card Information (PCI)
    • Financial Data
    • Confidential Business Information
  • Maintain enterprise data inventories, catalogs, and business metadata repositories.
  • Implement and support Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) capabilities.
  • Identify exposed, redundant, obsolete, trivial, and high-risk data assets.
  • Support regulatory compliance initiatives related to:
    • GDPR
    • CCPA
    • HIPAA
    • PCI-DSS
    • SOX
    • Other global privacy and regulatory frameworks
  • Implement data retention, deletion, archival, and data minimization policies.
  • Work with security and compliance teams to remediate data privacy and governance risks.
  • Support data classification, risk assessment, and governance reporting activities.
  • Develop technical documentation, governance procedures, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve data protection and privacy controls across the enterprise.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Data Governance, Data Privacy, and Data Security principles.
  • Experience implementing and supporting data governance and privacy programs.
  • Hands-on experience with BigID administration and configuration.
  • Experience working with:
    • SQL
    • Python
    • Linux
    • Cloud platforms
  • Experience configuring and managing enterprise data discovery solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data classification, metadata management, and data inventories.
  • Knowledge of structured and unstructured data ecosystems.
  • Experience implementing data retention, deletion, and minimization strategies.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOX.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) solutions.
  • Knowledge of enterprise security architecture and data protection technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native governance and security services.
  • Experience integrating governance tools with enterprise data platforms.
  • Exposure to risk management, audit support, and compliance reporting.
  • Knowledge of data cataloging and metadata management tools.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
