Your role

We are seeking a highly motivated Data & Cloud Engineer to support the development of an innovative modernization platform that accelerates the migration of legacy SAS workloads to Python and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using AI Agents and Generative AI technologies.

This role combines responsibilities from both Data Engineering and Cloud Engineering, focusing on designing cloud-native architectures, enabling AI-driven code transformation, and implementing modern data platforms on GCP. The engineer will work closely with AI Engineers, Data Architects, and Business SMEs to build a proof of concept (POC) and demonstration platform capable of automatically converting SAS assets into Python, BigQuery, Looker, and other modern GCP services.

• Analyze existing SAS programs, macros, ETL jobs, data flows, and business rules.
• Support the design and implementation of automated migration frameworks for:
• SAS Base
• SAS Macros
• PROC SQL
• Data Steps
• SAS ETL Workflows
• Validate migration outputs generated by AI agents.
• Identify conversion dependencies and remediation actions.
• Assist in code quality reviews and migration testing.
• Design and deploy cloud-native architectures within GCP.
• Configure and manage:
• BigQuery

• Cloud Composer (Airflow)
• Dataflow
• Vertex AI

• IAM and Security Controls
• Build CI/CD pipelines using:

• Design scalable data pipelines using Python and GCP services.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes to migrate datasets from SAS environments into BigQuery.
• Optimize data models and query performance.
• Build metadata and lineage tracking mechanisms.
• Implement data quality validation frameworks.
• Support testing and reconciliation between SAS and Python outputs.
• Collaborate with AI Engineers developing autonomous agents capable of:
• SAS code analysis
• Business rule extraction
• Python code generation
• BigQuery SQL conversion
• Looker model creation
• Documentation generation
• Define prompts, templates, and reference architectures for AI-assisted conversion.
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs and implement quality guardrails.
• Create feedback loops to continuously improve conversion accuracy.
• Convert SAS reporting logic into:
• BigQuery SQL
• Python Processing Modules
• LookML Models
• Looker Dashboards
• Support dashboard modernization efforts.
• Validate reporting consistency between legacy and target environments.

Your profile

• 5+ years in Data Engineering and/or Cloud Engineering.
• Python (Advanced)
