Engineering Science Consultant - Life Sciences (Junior)
Your Role
As an Engineering Science Consultant within our Life Sciences team, you will combine scientific expertise with data science / AI and software skills to help leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and consumer health organisations unlock value from their scientific data.
Working alongside bio/chemo informaticians, scientists, software engineers and AI specialists, you will develop and deploy data-driven solutions that support research, experimentation and product development. You will apply modern analytics, machine learning and data engineering techniques to biological, chemical and experimental datasets while helping clients transform their R&D capabilities.
In this role you will play a key role in:
- Collaborating with research scientists to understand scientific problems and translate them into data-driven solutions
- Communicating technical findings and recommendations to both scientific and business audiences
- Developing data pipelines and analytical workflows for scientific and research datasets
- Applying machine learning and AI techniques to solve complex life sciences challenges
- Working with biological, chemical, omics, laboratory, clinical and experimental data
- Creating visualisations, dashboards and decision-support tools for scientific stakeholders
- Creating robust, scalable software solutions that integrate data science capabilities into production environments
- Collaborating with industry experts to understand and solve complex problems using data and insights
- Implementing and optimizing algorithms for data processing, feature extraction, and model training
Your Profile
- Degree, Master's or PhD in a STEM discipline with additional consideration given to candidates with background in Bioinformatics, Biology or Biochemistry
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience working with scientific, biological or chemical datasets
- Experience applying data analytics, machine learning or statistical techniques to real-world problems
Desirable
- Experience of using programming languages (e.g. Python, R) and associated ML frameworks, e.g. scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
